I promised that Dresden File review….

And here it is! I haven’t finished the series; I’m on book 11, and I don’t know how many more books the author, Jim Butcher, plans on writing, but honestly, if he can keep it up, I’ll keep reading them!

The Dresden Files are about a wizard named Harry Dresden, who lives in Chicago. He doesn’t hide the fact that he’s a wizard; in fact his business cards say “Harry Dresden, Wizard”. How’s that for ‘in your face’?

The stories revolve around the supernatural events that occur in Chicago, and Harry’s ways of dealing with them. I don’t want to give away too much. Harry is also a PI, who works occasionally with the Chicago Police Dept. If anything weird happens that goes beyond the police’s scope, Harry deals with it.

He has friends, lots more enemies, and a smart mouth that gets him into more trouble than it’s worth; but he can’t help it. :)   He also likes to quote events from the 1970′s to 1990′s, and these add an additional chuckle to his unpredictable personality.

The stories get more complex as the series goes on, but the writing and the plot are so well done, I can easily stay up way past my bedtime to try to finish the novel (I say try because damn it, I do have to get to bed so that I’m functional at work the next day).

For a paranormal series, this is easily one of the best I’ve read so far; suspenseful, page-turning, what’s-going-to-happen-next type of book that all can enjoy. I would recommend The Dresden Files to anyone who’d ask.
